HCT 116

Description

HCT 116 (Colorectal Cancer CDX Model)

The HCT 116 colorectal cancer line was established from a patient with colon carcinoma. It carries mutations in KRAS and PIK3CA, both relevant drivers in colorectal cancer. HCT 116 is one of the most widely used colon cancer models in oncology research. Its stable growth and reproducibility make it a mainstay in preclinical studies.

Key Features:

  • Derived from colorectal carcinoma.
  • KRAS and PIK3CA mutations.
  • Microsatellite instability (MSI-high).
  • Reliable tumor formation in xenografts.

Applications:
HCT 116 is applied in drug screening and biomarker studies for colorectal cancer. Researchers use it to explore KRAS-driven resistance and PI3K-targeted therapies. It is also valuable for studies of MSI-high tumor biology. Its reproducibility makes it suitable for translational drug development.
